Description

A hearty and aromatic soup. A truly golden fish soup is made from red fish with the addition of turmeric or curry to the broth. If you don't have these spices on hand, you'll need a bit more carrot, but it should be grated on a fine grater before adding to the broth. Ladle into bowls and serve.

    Prepare the listed ingredients. Peel the onion, carrots, and potatoes, and wash them in water along with the tomatoes. Rinse the fish pieces and remove scales if present. You can use the fish head, removing the gills and eyes.

    Cut the potatoes into medium cubes, the carrots into rounds, and the onion into half-rings. Place the chopped vegetables into a cauldron or pot and add bay leaves. Rinse the fish pieces and place them into the container.

    Pour in cold water and place the container on the stove. Bring the contents to a boil and skim off the foam that forms.

    Cut the tomatoes into large cubes and add them to the container. Simmer the fish soup for about 20 minutes, then add salt and ground black pepper. If desired, you can crush a couple of peeled garlic cloves into the broth.

    Add turmeric to give the broth a bright color.

    Boil for another 2-3 minutes, adding chopped parsley. Taste the dish and, if necessary, add more spices or water.

    Pour the hot fish soup into deep plates and serve hot. Don't forget the sliced bread or a shot of vodka!
