
Ukrainian borscht with dumplings

I really love borscht. When its aroma spreads through the apartment, everyone starts slowly gathering around, drawn by the smell, in anticipation of a delicious treat. I want to share my recipe with you.

Pour water into a saucepan and place it on the heat to warm up.

Meanwhile, prepare all the ingredients. Shred the cabbage, cut the meat and potatoes into cubes, and slice the carrots and beets into thin strips.

When the water begins to boil, add the cabbage, then the meat.

In a frying pan, sauté the beetroot in vegetable oil and add the carrot. Fry until almost cooked.

In a separate skillet, sauté the chopped onion in vegetable oil.

Add almost all of the beans and tomato paste to the carrots and beets. Sauté until cooked, stirring constantly.

When the broth is ready and the cabbage is tender, add the potatoes to the pot.

After 10 minutes, add the spices: salt, pepper, bay leaf, etc.

Add the remaining beans and sautéed vegetables to the pot and cook the borscht until done.

To prepare dumplings, add water, butter, and eggs beaten with a fork to the flour.

The dough should be smooth but not too stiff.

Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut out pieces of arbitrary shape.

Boil them in salted water for about 10 minutes.

After they rise to the surface, drain the dumplings in a colander. Then lightly fry them in vegetable oil in a pan.
