Wash the potatoes, peel them, and cut into cubes.

Peel the onion and finely chop it.

Wash the carrots, peel them, and slice into rounds.

Pour water into a saucepan and place over heat. Add the root vegetables and prepared vegetables.

Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat, add bay leaf, nutmeg, black peppercorns, salt, and pepper. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
