Description

When preparing this soup, keep in mind that you will need approximately 1–1.2 liters of liquid (water or broth). Also, note that the frozen green peas listed in the recipe can be substituted with marinated peas, added at the very end of cooking. Serve with fresh herbs and sour cream.

    Prepare all the ingredients for the ptitim soup. Wash and peel the vegetables, and if necessary, prepare meat broth (for the non-vegetarian version).

    Finely chop the onion and grate the carrot on a medium grater. Pour sunflower oil into the bottom of the multicooker bowl (or a pot, if cooking on the stovetop), add the onion and carrot, and sauté for 5–7 minutes (using the "Sauté" setting).

    Grate the peeled potatoes on a medium grater or cut into small cubes, then add to the onion and carrot mixture. Cook the vegetables for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Add spices and tomatoes (previously peeled and finely chopped) to the sautéed vegetables, and mix.

    Pour hot water (or broth) into the vegetable mixture, add peas, and cook the soup for 10-15 minutes (using the "Soup" or "Cooking" setting).

    At the end of cooking, add ptitim to the soup and season to taste with salt. Cook for another 7–10 minutes, then turn off the heat and let the soup steep for another 3–5 minutes.

    Serve the ptitim soup hot, garnished with green onions (fresh or frozen) and sour cream.
