
Homemade Shchi
Description
As many hostesses — as many recipes for making shchi. This dish is often prepared in every family, and there's a recipe for every season of the year, isn't there? Well then, I'll tell you. Ladle into bowls and serve.

Usually, cabbage soup broth is made from bone-in meat, but I'll be preparing it a bit differently. We'll wash the meat and cut it into small pieces, about 1.5-2 cm in size.

And fry the meat in a well-heated pan with a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sear until a light golden crust forms. Then transfer the meat to a pot, pour in a small amount of water (about 0.5 liters), and cook until almost done. Definitely for about 25 minutes.

Meanwhile, let's prepare the vegetables we need to make the soup.

Cut the potatoes into small cubes.

Shred the cabbage.

Grate the carrot on a coarse grater, slice the onion into quarter-rings, and cut the bell pepper into small strips.

Sauté the carrots, onion, and pepper in a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a frying pan with the lid on.

When the meat reaches the desired level of doneness, add the potatoes and cabbage, along with a teaspoon of salt. Then pour in about 1.5 liters of boiling water.
