1. Boil the potatoes, egg, beetroot, and carrots until cooked through, then let them cool. It's best to cook each ingredient in separate pots.

3. Peel the cooled boiled vegetables and grate them. Finely chop the onion and the herbs, if using. Layer the fish, onion, potatoes, carrots, and beets. Spread mayonnaise between each layer.
