Herring under a fur coat
Description
Herring under a fur coat is a salad from the USSR, from childhood. Even today, many people can't imagine not preparing this legendary dish for a festive table, and I often confirm this rule. We'll cook it deliciously, correctly, and as healthily as possible.
Instructions

Step 1

Clean the lightly salted herring. Remove the bones and skin. Separate the fish into fillets and cut into small cubes. Choose a dish in which you will serve the salad. I use a large plate. Place the herring on the bottom.

Step 2

Cut the onion into small cubes. Sprinkle with lemon juice or vinegar. Add a little sugar and marinate the onion. After 10 minutes, rinse the onion under running water, place it on top of the herring. Drizzle the herring with onion with vegetable oil.

Step 3

Peel the boiled potatoes. Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater. Spread them evenly over the salad. Arrange so that the potatoes cover the entire herring. Spread a layer of mayonnaise over the potatoes.

Step 4

Grate boiled eggs on a coarse grater. Place on top of the potatoes and spread evenly. Coat the egg layer with mayonnaise.

Step 5

Grate the boiled beet on a fine grater. Place it on top of the egg layer. Spread it evenly so that the beet layer completely covers all the previous layers. The finely grated beet will release its juice, thus moistening the salad, and you won't need to use mayonnaise again.

Step 6

Decorate the salad to your taste. Let it marinate for a while — then serve.
