Description

A simple dish to prepare. Herring under a fur coat is as much a signature appetizer as Olivier salad is for New Year's. The best thing about this salad is that it turns out very tasty, while requiring little time and money to make. Serve chilled.

    First, prepare all the ingredients: remove bones from the herring (if you don't have a fillet piece), boil the eggs hard, and cook the carrots, potatoes, and beets until tender.

    Now let's move on to chopping. Finely chop the onion, and grate the beet and apple (peeled and cored) on a coarse grater (drain the liquid released during grating). Cut the eggs, potatoes, carrots, and herring into small cubes. Reserve a little bit of the egg yolk to decorate the finished salad.

    Take a springform pan and place the first layer—grated beetroot—on the bottom.

    Next - a layer of herring.

    Next - a layer of onion. Now everything needs to be firmly pressed down so that all the ingredients stick tightly to each other.

    Press down the herring, onion, and beet, then spread a layer of mayonnaise over them (approximately one-third of the total amount of mayonnaise used).

    Next, a layer of carrots and apples. Again, press down firmly and spread with mayonnaise.

    Finally, place a layer of the remaining beet on top and spread the remaining mayonnaise over the beets. Garnish the salad with crumbled egg yolk. Place the salad in the removable mold into the refrigerator overnight.
