Physalis Salad

25 min4 serv.20 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Physalis is not a common ingredient on our tables—it's usually used just to decorate desserts and cakes. But you can prepare many delicious dishes with it, and this recipe is a perfect example. For the salad, use berry varieties that pair well with fruits. You can dress the salad not only with sour cream but also with any yogurt; instead of honey, you may use sugar or Jerusalem artichoke syrup. And if you mix honey with lemon or lime juice, this salad will be perfect for fasting days.

Remove the outer husk and take out the cape gooseberry. Place them in a colander and pour boiling water over them, then rinse with warm water. This will help remove the waxy coating and the bitterness it causes. Spread the berries on a paper towel and let them dry completely. Place the cape gooseberries in a salad bowl.

Peel the kiwi and banana and cut them into slices. Trim the stems from the figs, cut them into pieces, and add them to the physalis.
