Sprat salad
Description
Perfect for an everyday table. On its own, this salad is more suitable for festive occasions, and to impress your guests, you'll need to put in some effort—though this mainly refers to presentation. The ingredient list won't require much work; all components are easy to prepare and always available. However, the combination of flavors and creative presentation will give this dish a fresh and aesthetically intriguing touch. This salad belongs to the layered category. Season each layer with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish as desired and serve. Good luck!
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for making the salad.
- 2
Step 2

Peel the onion, wash it, and finely chop. Place in a bowl and pour boiling water over it to remove the bitterness. Let the onion sit in the boiling water for 10 minutes, then drain the water.
- 3
Step 3

Boil the potatoes, cool and grate. Mix with mayonnaise and season with salt to taste. Place in a salad bowl as the first layer.
- 4
Step 4

Place the sliced onion as the second layer.
- 5
Step 5

Open the can of sprats. Drain the liquid. Take out 3-4 fish and set aside. Mash the remaining sprats with a fork and mix with mayonnaise. Spread this mixture into the salad bowl as the next layer.
- 6
Step 6

Boil the eggs hard, cool them, and peel. Cut 1-2 eggs zigzag into two halves. These will be lilies on the pond. Grate the remaining eggs and mix with mayonnaise. Spread as the next layer.
- 7
Step 7

Boil the carrots until cooked, cool, peel and grate. Mix with mayonnaise. Spread as the next layer.
- 8
Step 8

Grate the cheese and place it as the final layer of the salad.
- 9
Step 9

Decorate the salad. Insert sprats with their tails pointing upwards to resemble fish jumping out of a pond. Arrange lily pads using eggs. Garnish the salad with green onions, parsley, and dill.
