Herring salad
Description
Minimum effort — excellent result. The "New Year's Night" herring salad can easily become a serious competitor even to main dishes. All ingredients are perfectly matched, despite their large number. At first glance, it might seem that there are too many ingredients and they don't go well together, but after the first bite you'll fall in love with this salad forever. Can be served immediately.

Step 1

1. This Herring Salad "New Year's Night" will be a perfect addition to the upcoming holiday table. If you don't decorate it in a New Year's theme, it can be prepared for any occasion or celebration. First, you need to boil the potatoes, carrots, and eggs. Chicken eggs will go into the salad, while quail eggs will be used for garnish.

Step 2

2. Slice the onion into half-rings and marinate it in vinegar (add sugar, salt, and spices to taste). Meanwhile, slice the herring.
- 3
Step 3

3. I take ready-made fillet and cut it into cubes.
- 4
Step 4

4. All ingredients should be layered in a specific order. The first layer will be herring.
- 5
Step 5

5. Don't forget to spread mayonnaise on each layer. On the herring, we place marinated onion.
- 6
Step 6

6. The next layer is pickled cucumbers. Together with the mayonnaise, they will further soak into the onions, making them even more delicious and aromatic.
- 7
Step 7

7. Then we add a layer of boiled carrots. All boiled vegetables should be grated on a medium grater.
- 8
Step 8

8. Then comes a layer of apples, followed by a layer of cheese. The cheese layer should be generously coated with more mayonnaise (just like the potato layer, as these ingredients absorb more mayonnaise).
- 9
Step 9

9. Then cover with a layer of potatoes and spread mayonnaise again. Now there's just one thing left — the decoration.
- 10
Step 10

10. For decoration, we will need finely chopped fresh herbs.
- 11
Step 11

11. As well as eggs and carrots, cut into strips (also boiled).
- 12
Step 12

12. Cut the eggs in half and place them with the yolks facing down. On top, arrange the carrots to resemble a clock face and garnish everything with herbs.
