Salad
Description
Salad "Fox Coat" has a bright festive appearance and a legendary taste. What else could you want in a holiday salad? Fox Coat is very easy and quick to prepare—I usually boil the vegetables in advance. Just before serving, all I need to do is grate the vegetables and chop the herring. Some people also add marinated mushrooms to this salad; that version is delicious too, but I personally prefer the classic ingredient lineup. My recipe for "Fox Coat" salad is sure to delight anyone who loves herring under a fur coat but is tired of the traditional presentation.
Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Boil the vegetables in salted water until cooked. Remove the skin from the herring and take out all the bones.

Step 2

Peel the potatoes, grate them on a fine grater, and place them on the bottom of a deep plate. I use a glass salad bowl—this makes the salad look more festive and appetizing, as you can see each layer.

Step 3

Cut the herring into small cubes and place on top of the potatoes. Spread a thick layer of mayonnaise on top.

Step 4

Grate the beet on a fine grater and place it over the herring. Lightly spread with mayonnaise.

Step 5

Grate the carrots on a fine grater as well. Place as the top layer. There's no need to spread anything on top.
