Salad for vodka
Description
Through trial and error, I have found that men really enjoy eating "Herring under a Fur Coat" salad with vodka, but it's also worth experimenting, for example, by adding jelly.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Beets, potatoes, carrots, and eggs should be boiled in advance and cooled. We will also need onion (bulb onion). And for the jelly, I additionally use red currant jelly (unusual, but very tasty!).
- 2
Step 2

The herring needs to be cleaned—remove all the innards, as well as the head and tail. Fillet the fish so that you end up with two fillet pieces. Carefully remove all the small bones, then cut the fillets into small cubes.
- 3
Step 3

Boiled potatoes in their skins need to be peeled and cut into small cubes (5-7 mm).
- 4
Step 4

Peel the boiled beet and grate it on a coarse grater.
- 5
Step 5

We will also grate the boiled carrots on a grater or cut them into small cubes.
- 6
Step 6

We'll also grate the eggs (boiled) on a coarse grater.
- 7
Step 7

Finely chop the onion and scald with boiling water. This way we remove the bitterness and sharp odor, yet the onion will still retain its crunch.
- 8
Step 8

Soak gelatin sheets in cold water; 10 minutes will be enough. Boil water with 2 teaspoons of jelly (red currant). Squeeze the gelatin sheets and transfer them into the water with red currant jelly. Stir until completely dissolved, then let it cool (to the temperature of warm milk). After that, add mayonnaise and mix until smooth.
- 9
Step 9

In separate containers, mix the ingredients with the jelly and mayonnaise mixture. Layer them in a silicone mold, starting with the beetroot as the first layer.
- 10
Step 10

The next layer consists of eggs.
- 11
Step 11

Third—carrots.
- 12
Step 12

Fourth—potatoes and onions.
- 13
Step 13

Place the herring on top last. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 6 hours (or preferably overnight).
- 14
Step 14

Once the jelly has set, we can cover the silicone mold with a flat plate and turn the salad upside down. Carefully remove the mold to avoid damaging the salad's shape.
