Peel boiled or baked beet and grate on a grater.

Soak the raisins in hot water.

We chop the nuts using a rolling pin or blender—whichever you prefer. In my family, we like the nut pieces to be noticeable in the salad.

Remove the raisins from the water. It's even worth squeezing them a bit to get rid of excess liquid. Add the raisins and nuts to the salad bowl with the grated beet.
