Description
An easy-to-prepare dish. You've never tried this version of "Herring under a Fur Coat" before. Of course, the taste remains the same, but the presentation is more original than ever! This roll can be served either as a cold appetizer or as a salad. The "Herring in a Fur Coat" roll will look especially impressive on a New Year's table. Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Wash all the vegetables and boil them in their skins until cooked.
- 2
Step 2

First, soak the gelatin in 100 ml of warm water. Leave for 15 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Meanwhile, grate the potatoes, carrots, and beets on a coarse grater.
- 4
Step 4

Finely chop the onion and sauté it in a small amount of sunflower oil.
- 5
Step 5

Place the soaked gelatin over a water bath and heat until it dissolves completely. Then pour it into the mayonnaise and mix until smooth.
- 6
Step 6

In separate bowls, mix the carrots, potatoes, and beets with mayonnaise. This way, you'll ensure even coating of each layer.
- 7
Step 7

Clean and rinse the herring, then cut into small cubes.
- 8
Step 8

Place two layers of foil on the work surface. Start forming the salad roll. First, lay out the beetroot in the shape of a large rectangle. On top, spread the carrots, but leave a few centimeters from the top and bottom edges.
- 9
Step 9

The next layer is potatoes; arrange them in a smaller rectangle shape as well.
- 10
Step 10

Finally, place diced herring and fried onions in the center.
- 11
Step 11

Carefully fold the edges of the foil on both sides so that the edges of each layer meet. Wrap the roll tightly with foil. If necessary, add another layer of foil—just make sure the roll holds its shape while it hasn't set yet. Place the roll in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours, or preferably overnight.

Step 12

That's it! A beautiful, appetizing, and consistently delicious "Herring under a Fur Coat" roll is ready! Serve it to the table and enjoy the admiring looks of your guests! Happy New Year!
