New Year's salad
Description
I've made this salad several times, and it was always a huge hit at every festive table. But at some point, I completely forgot about it and didn't remember it for several years. Now, in anticipation of the holiday, I was planning my New Year's menu and decided to prepare exactly this salad, serving it this time in the shape of an original little dog. Check out my recipe.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Boil the vegetables in their skins until cooked, and hard-boil the eggs.
- 2
Step 2

To make it easier to shape the salad, I previously printed and cut out a dog template—it's simple and easy to replicate. Place the template on a plate and trace around it with mayonnaise so that the dog's outline will be clearly visible later.

Step 3

Grate the potatoes on a fine grater and place them as the first layer in the center of the outline, trying to do everything very neatly. Cover the top with a mayonnaise lattice.
- 4
Step 4

Mash the cod liver with a fork and spread it as the next layer. Cover with mayonnaise again.
- 5
Step 5

Grate the pickled cucumber on a fine grater and place it as the next layer. Top with a mayonnaise drizzle.
- 6
Step 6

Next layer – grated carrots on a fine grater, followed by eggs grated on a fine grater. Top again with mayonnaise.
- 7
Step 7

The final layer is hard cheese grated on a fine grater. It should thoroughly cover the entire salad on top and on the sides.
- 8
Step 8

Use olives and carrots to decorate the salad, giving it the appearance of a dog. Let the salad sit for a while — then it's ready to serve.
