German hunter's salad
Description
German hunter's salad can be prepared both for gatherings with friends and simply as a nutritious snack during the day. In northern regions of Germany, the salad is most popular with mayonnaise, while in southern regions, a dressing based on vegetable oil is preferred. Today, I suggest making the second option, resulting in a light yet nutritious dish with a subtle hint of smokiness and aroma.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients from the list. Boil the potatoes in advance and let them cool.
- 2
Step 2

Then peel the potatoes and cut them into large cubes or small wedges.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the cucumbers into small cubes or slices.
- 4
Step 4

Chop the onion into small cubes, scald with boiling water, drain in a colander, then transfer to a salad bowl.
- 5
Step 5

Next, cut the hunter's sausages into small pieces (no need to peel them). You can pre-fry the sausages on a grill pan or heat them in the microwave for three minutes. Instead of sausages, you can add smoked sausage cut into thin strips.
- 6
Step 6

For freshness and aroma, add chopped parsley or any other herbs to taste.
- 7
Step 7

Then you need to prepare a light dressing. Mix 2 tbsp of vegetable oil with a pinch of sugar, 1 tbsp of grainy mustard, and half a teaspoon of ground black pepper. Don't forget to season with salt to taste. Add a crushed garlic clove and mix well. You can add 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar; I didn't add it.
- 8
Step 8

Add the dressing to the salad and mix. Can be served immediately.

Step 9

The German hunter's salad is ready.
