Marinated beet with herring
Description
The salad is quick and easy to prepare. To make the appetizer as fast as possible, boil the beet in advance, or you can bake it in foil in the oven. You can use any 6% vinegar; white wine or apple cider vinegar works well. The salad is ready to serve.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Take all the necessary ingredients. Boil the beet beforehand until fully cooked, then cool and peel. A medium-sized beet takes 40 to 50 minutes to cook, keep this in mind.
- 2
Step 2

Pour the oil and vinegar into a deep bowl, add pepper and a little salt. Do not over-salt the marinade, keep in mind that the herring is also salty. If the beet is not sweet enough, you can add a little sugar to the marinade.

Step 3

Cut the beet into strips or cubes, and slice the onion into half-rings. Place the vegetables into the marinade, mix well, and let sit for 10–15 minutes. Stir the beets occasionally to ensure even marination.
- 4
Step 4

Cut off the head and tail, clean the herring from the innards, skin, and bones. Cut the fish fillet into small pieces, transfer to a bowl with the beet.
- 5
Step 5

Gently mix the contents of the plate, let it sit for another 10 minutes, then taste. If the herring is lightly salted, season the dish to your taste.
- 6
Step 6

After some time, transfer the marinated beet and herring to a serving dish, sprinkle with dill, and serve.
