1. Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings. Pour olive oil into a large pot and turn the stove to medium heat.

3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and sauté the onions for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. You can add a teaspoon of sugar to speed up the caramelization process. The main thing is not to burn the onions.
