Borscht for children
Description
The soup is simple and quick to prepare. From about one and a half years of age, children can safely eat soups made with meat broth. I'll tell you. Serve with fresh herbs and sour cream.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Pour water or meat broth into a saucepan. I'm using beef broth, but turkey, chicken, or rabbit broth will work as well. However, I'd recommend using pork broth only for older children. Add bay leaf and bring to a boil.
- 3
Step 3

Thinly slice the cabbage and add it to the pot as soon as the broth comes to a boil.
- 4
Step 4

After the cabbage comes to a boil, add the diced potatoes.
- 5
Step 5

Heat a skillet with oil and add diced onion and grated carrot.
- 6
Step 6

Sauté the vegetables until soft and transfer them to a pot.
- 7
Step 7

Then, in the same skillet, add the grated beet.
- 8
Step 8

Sauté the beet until cooked, add tomato paste at the end and cook everything together for a couple more minutes.
- 9
Step 9

When the potatoes are almost done, add the beetroot, salt to taste, and cook everything together until all ingredients are fully cooked.
- 10
Step 10

At the very end, add sour cream and fresh herbs to taste, if desired.
- 11
Step 11

Mix everything, bring to a boil, cover with a lid, remove from heat, and let it steep for 15–20 minutes. The borscht for children is ready.
- 12
Step 12

The soup is ready. Serve hot.
