Green tea with roasted rice

Description

Green tea with roasted rice is also known as "Genmai" or "Genmaicha." Originally in Japan, it was consumed by the poor, as the rice provided a feeling of fullness, allowing them to use less green tea. To prepare green tea with roasted rice, take regular rice—either long-grain or short-grain will work. I use loose-leaf green tea. By the way, in the West, this tea is called "popcorn tea." The drink is ready to serve.

Instructions

    Step 1

    Step 1

Soak the rice in water for about two hours.

Then rinse it a couple of times, and before frying, you can slightly dry it with paper towels so the pan doesn't sizzle too much.

Fry over medium heat, stirring occasionally. It is important not to let the rice burn, otherwise both the dish and the tea are considered ruined. On average, frying takes about 5 minutes. This also depends on the thickness of the pan.

Mix the fried rice with loose-leaf green tea. You can brew it.

Brew as you would regular tea: for a few minutes.

The color turns out slightly yellowish.
