
Green Tomatoes in Batter
Description
Perfect for the table and with drinks. The batter I’ll tell you about below, I use only for this dish. It turns out spicy and flavorful, and pairs wonderfully with green tomatoes. Every time I come across such wonderful recipes, I think how easy it is to be a vegetarian—with such a variety of delicious options! Green tomatoes in batter are quite filling, especially if you serve them with a good side, such as a vegetable salad! :) Experiment and try new dishes! :) The appetizer is ready. Serve right away.

Wash and slice the tomatoes into slices. Don't forget to remove the core at the stem end.

Wash and dry the basil.

In a blender, combine the breadcrumbs, basil, garlic, salt, pepper, and the zest of half a lemon.

Coat the green tomatoes with olive oil. Then dip them in flour, then in egg, and finally in our breadcrumb and seasoning mix.

Fry the tomatoes in vegetable oil on both sides until golden brown. This will take about 2–3 minutes per side.

Serve green tomatoes in batter with natural yogurt:) The green tomatoes will be flavorful enough, so you don't need to add anything to the yogurt.
