Casserole with pasta and seafood
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta for 2 minutes less than indicated in the instructions. Drain the water, rinse under cold water, and set aside. While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter over medium heat in a large saucepan. Transfer 2 tablespoons of the melted butter to a bowl and set aside. Add the onion and garlic to the saucepan and cook until soft, for 3 to 5 minutes. Add the flour and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the milk and whisk until smooth. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer until the sauce thickens, for 2 to 3 minutes. Season with 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, and nutmeg. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Mix the seafood, pasta, and cheese, then transfer into a baking dish. To the bowl with reserved melted butter, add breadcrumbs and Creole seasoning, mix well, and sprinkle over the pasta mixture. Bake until golden brown, for 15 to 20 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. The dish is ready to be served.
