Potato casserole with cheese
Description
What I especially love about this potato casserole recipe with cheese is how completely the flavor changes when you use different spices. Potatoes magically transform when combined with seasonings, so you can make a sour cream sauce for the casserole with Provence herbs, or coriander and dill, or even ground ginger—each time you'll get an entirely new dish. Vegetarians can enjoy this casserole as a hearty and delicious main course, while meat-eaters can serve it as a side dish with meat or fish.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Wash and peel the potatoes. The skin of young tubers can be left on.

Step 3

Peel the onion and slice into rings or half-rings.
- 4
Step 4

Beat the eggs with salt.
- 5
Step 5

Mix with sour cream and spices.
- 6
Step 6

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
- 7
Step 7

Place half of the potatoes into the bottom of a greased pan.
- 8
Step 8

Then onions and again potatoes.
- 9
Step 9

Pour with sour cream sauce, sprinkle with grated cheese, cover with foil, and place in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes. Then carefully remove the foil and let the casserole brown. Let it cool slightly and serve hot, either directly in the baking dish or on individual plates.
