Broccoli casserole for children

60 min4 serv.19 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Broccoli with sour cream and cheese turns out much tastier than simply boiled or stewed broccoli. Adding cauliflower to make a broccoli casserole for children is not necessary at all, but I happened to see it in the supermarket, and I thought: why not try combining two types of cabbage? I recommend choosing a hard cheese variety.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Wash and dry the cabbage (broccoli and cauliflower). Cut off the stems, as we won't need them.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

    Separate the cauliflower into florets.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Do the same with the broccoli.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Then, add the cauliflower first into the boiling, well-salted water.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

And after about 5 minutes—add the broccoli. Cook for another 5 minutes. The cabbage should not become overcooked.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Drain the cabbage in a colander and rinse it with cold water. Grease the baking dish with oil. Mix sour cream with eggs, add spices and nutmeg. Then add milk or cream and mix well.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Place the vegetables in a baking dish, then evenly pour the sour cream-egg mixture over them. The mixture should almost cover the vegetables, so depending on the size of the dish, you may need more or less sour cream and milk.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Sprinkle with grated cheese on top, place the dish in a preheated oven at 210 degrees for 30-40 minutes.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

The main thing is that the egg mixture should be fully cooked, and the cheese should be golden but not burnt. Let the broccoli casserole for children cool down before serving.

You can serve it as a side dish or as a main dish.
