Baked cauliflower with cheese
Description
Recipe for cauliflower with cheese, pasta, and ham
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Remove the green leaves from the cabbage and cut off the base.
- 2
Step 2

Now, divide into florets and rinse them under cold water.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the remaining part into 5 mm thick slices.
- 4
Step 4

Place the cabbage in a deep pot, add a little salt, and pour in water (about 1 cm). Bring to a boil and cook for 9 minutes with the lid on.
- 5
Step 5

Meanwhile, prepare the pasta. Salt the water and add olive oil. Cook according to the instructions on the package.
- 6
Step 6

While the cabbage and pasta are cooking, grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
- 7
Step 7

Next, transfer the cauliflower to a deep baking dish. If the florets are too large for you, you can cut them in half or into three pieces.
- 8
Step 8

When the pasta is ready, drain the water and add it to the cauliflower, then mix everything evenly.
- 9
Step 9

Now, cut the ham into small squares (you can use smoked ham, as shown here). Turn on the oven to preheat to 180°C.
- 10
Step 10

Let's start preparing the sauce. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
- 11
Step 11

When the butter is melted, add the flour and quickly stir with a whisk (or wooden spoon).
- 12
Step 12

Beat until the mixture becomes smooth. The color will begin to change slightly at this point.
- 13
Step 13

Now add a little milk and beat until the mixture thickens, then pour in the remaining milk.
- 14
Step 14

After you have added all the milk, bring it to a gentle boil.
- 15
Step 15

Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Do not overdo the salt if you are using salty cheese in the dish.
- 16
Step 16

Now, add half of the grated cheese and stir with a whisk until the cheese melts. Remove the pot from the heat.
- 17
Step 17

Place the ham on top of the pasta and cabbage.
- 18
Step 18

Add the sauce, spreading it evenly over the entire surface.
- 19
Step 19

Then, sprinkle the remaining half of the grated cheese over the top. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 30 minutes (keep an eye on the baking process to prevent burning).
- 20
Step 20

Ready. Serve at the table.
