
Baked pears with a crumb topping
Description
The recipe won't take much time. This tender warm pear dessert is simply perfect for cold days. It's great served with whipped cream. Serve chilled.

1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Melt and cool the butter. Mix together flour, sugar, brown sugar, crushed cookies, ground ginger, and salt. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

2. Peel the pears, cut them in half, remove the cores, and slice into 6 mm thick slices.

3. In a baking dish, combine pears, cranberries, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla extract. In a small bowl, whisk together sugar and cornstarch, then mix into the fruit mixture in the baking dish.

4. Sprinkle the pears and cranberries with ginger topping. Place the dish on a sheet of aluminum foil in the oven (as the mixture may bubble during cooking) and bake for about 45 minutes, until the topping turns golden brown.
