Baked cabbage rolls in sour cream and ketchup
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. These cabbage rolls won me over with their original sauce, which gives the dish a special flavor. Usually, I would shape the cabbage rolls, place them in a pot, and pour over a sauce made from tomato paste, onion, and carrot, then simmer everything on the stove—done. But here it's different. Of course, I still prepare the cabbage rolls the same way, but now I make the sauce exclusively from ketchup and sour cream (with the same added carrot and onion, of course). Honestly, the ketchup gives the cabbage rolls a more refined taste, while the sour cream makes it milder. The cooking method is also different—baking in the oven! As a result, you get a completely new and unusual dish. My entire family loves it, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. Serve the finished dish at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Cook the rice in advance until done in slightly salted water.
- 2
Step 2

First, prepare the stuffing. Grind the meat through a meat grinder. Or take ready-made ground meat, add finely chopped onion (finely diced or grated), rice, salt, and pepper to taste.
- 3
Step 3

Mix the mixture thoroughly until smooth.
- 4
Step 4

In the cabbage head, remove the core and place the cabbage into boiling water. Keep it there for 5 minutes, then carefully separate it into leaves using two forks.
- 5
Step 5

As a rule, the leaves are very soft and come off easily.
- 6
Step 6

For the dressing, finely chop the second onion and grate the carrot on a fine grater. Sauté the onion and carrot over medium heat in vegetable oil.
- 7
Step 7

Then add ketchup and sour cream to the pan, mix well.
- 8
Step 8

Then pour in the broth, add a little salt and pepper, bay leaf, and any preferred spices. Mix everything and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes after boiling.
- 9
Step 9

Place a small amount of filling onto a piece of cabbage leaf.
- 10
Step 10

Wrap.
- 11
Step 11

Place the cabbage rolls into a large ovenproof dish.
- 12
Step 12

Pour the prepared dressing over them. If there is not enough dressing to cover the tops of the cabbage rolls, add a little more broth. Bake the cabbage rolls in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes.

Step 13

Enjoy your meal!
