Baked mackerel with walnut-cheese stuffing
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. I'm sure mackerel will be delicious no matter how you cook it. It's tasty both in soup and pan-fried, but I like it best when baked in the oven. You can stuff this fish with various vegetables, but my favorite is the walnut and cheese filling. It turns out incredibly delicious! Recipe: Serve the finished dish at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Thaw the mackerel completely at room temperature; it's better not to use a microwave or hot water. Cut off the fish's head and remove the fins. Slice the fish open along the belly, remove all the innards, backbone, and bones. Rinse the fillet and pat it dry with paper towels.
- 3
Step 3

Spread mustard evenly over the fillet.
- 4
Step 4

On top, place chopped walnuts, which can be ground in a blender or simply chopped with a knife (that's what I did). Then, add a layer of cheese grated on a coarse grater.
- 5
Step 5

Fold the fish in half and tie it with string so that it retains its shape during baking.
- 6
Step 6

Wrap the fish in foil and place it in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

Then unfold the foil, spread the fish with mayonnaise, and bake for another 10 minutes without wrapping it. As soon as the fish is nicely browned on top, remove it from the oven.

Step 8

Baked mackerel with walnut and cheese filling is ready! Serve it hot and enjoy!
