Baked kohlrabi
Description
This dish is perfect for a festive table – your guests will surely be surprised by your creativity and delighted by its unique flavor. At the same time, this simple recipe for baked kohlrabi stuffed with minced meat and vegetables will pleasantly diversify your everyday menu! Thoroughly wash the kohlrabi under running water, dry and clean with a brush. Carefully remove the core from each kohlrabi using a sharp knife, then chop the core finely. Heat a skillet with a small amount of oil, sauté finely chopped onion until softened, then add the chopped kohlrabi flesh and thinly sliced bell pepper. After about a minute, add the minced meat and cook over medium heat until all the liquid has evaporated. Season with salt, pepper, your favorite spices, and add chopped tomatoes. Simmer the meat and vegetables, covered, for 5 minutes, then turn off the heat, stir in pressed garlic, and let it cool slightly. Fill each kohlrabi with several spoonfuls of the filling—packing it in completely, even mounded on top. If you have cheese, grate it and sprinkle over the top. Place the stuffed kohlrabi onto a greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 25–30 minutes. Check for doneness with a thin wooden skewer or toothpick—if the kohlrabi pierces easily, it's ready. Serve hot with sour cream sauce.
