Frozen yeast-free puff pastry
Description
Homemade baked goods for tea. You can make so many things from puff pastry: pies, pastries, buns... And in some cases, this dough can even serve as a pizza base. Nowadays, you can buy this dough in any supermarket, but I prefer to make it myself. Today I'll tell you how.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1
Sift the chilled flour into a pile in a deep container and add salt.
- 2
Step 2
Grate the frozen butter on a coarse grater.
- 3
Step 3
Mix the flour and butter by hand or with a knife, but do not overwork. The butter should remain in small chunks.
- 4
Step 4
Gradually add the ice water, one spoonful at a time. The dough should be quite firm.
- 5
Step 5
Roll the dough into a ball and roll it out on the table into a thin layer, first dusting it with flour.
- 6
Step 6
Next, fold the dough into thirds and roll it out again. The more times you repeat this process, the fluffier the dough will become.
- 7
Step 7
When rolling out the dough, gradually fold it in such a way to form a square.
- 8
Step 8
Lay out parchment paper, place a layer of dough on it and carefully wrap it up. Put the dough in the freezer.
- 9
Step 9
This dough can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months.
