Jellied pie with cabbage
Description
Perfect with tea and coffee. A simple, no-fuss recipe using only the most common ingredients that you'll find in any kitchen. Uncomplicated, yet delicious and tender baked dish. Of course, you can make this pourable pie with many other fillings as well. Today I'm using cabbage. Serve warm or chilled. Ideal with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients from the list.
- 2
Step 2

Thinly slice the cabbage and transfer it to a heated skillet with oil. Add salt and ground pepper to taste.
- 3
Step 3

Sauté the cabbage, covering the pan with a lid, until it reaches the desired doneness. Young cabbage will cook faster than older cabbage. Transfer the cooked cabbage to a bowl to cool.
- 4
Step 4

In a deep bowl, beat the eggs with salt.
- 5
Step 5

Add milk.
- 6
Step 6

Add flour and baking powder.
- 7
Step 7

Mix everything until smooth. The batter should be smooth, but not thick, and elastic, like pancake batter.
- 8
Step 8

Grease a heat-resistant pan with sides. Dust the bottom and sides with flour or semolina.
- 9
Step 9

Pour half of the prepared dough into the pan and carefully spread it evenly over the entire pan with a spatula or spoon.
- 10
Step 10

Evenly spread the ready cabbage filling over the bottom layer of the batter. It is important not to leave any "bare spots," so that every piece of the pie will be filled with delicious and juicy filling.
- 11
Step 11

Then pour the remaining batter on top, carefully spreading it to cover the entire surface of the pie. The soft dough will soak into the delicious filling, binding all the ingredients together. You can sprinkle the top with sesame seeds.
- 12
Step 12

Place the pan with the dough in a preheated oven at 180 degrees and bake for 30–40 minutes until golden brown. To check if the custard pie is done, pierce it in the center with a wooden skewer—it should come out dry and clean.
- 13
Step 13

The cabbage pie is ready. Cover the pie with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest and cool slightly before slicing. Cut the warm pie into portion-sized pieces. The cabbage pie is delicious both warm and cold.
