Sour cream starter at home
Description
Homemade sauce is easy and quick to prepare. The cooking process requires no special culinary skills. To make the dish, you only need to buy one ingredient – regular store-bought milk with a standard shelf life. There's no need to purchase expensive professional equipment. You can make creamy sour cream right in a typical modern kitchen. Store the finished product in a glass container with a lid in the refrigerator. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Step 1

1. Warm the milk and transfer it to a special container for long-term storage. Cover the top with a cotton cloth to protect the milk from dust. Leave the liquid to ferment. The fermentation time depends on the room temperature. In summer, this process may take up to 2 days; in winter, up to 4 days.

2. After souring, you should have a two-layered liquid. The lower layer of whey should occupy one-fourth of the container. Strain the soured milk through cheesecloth.

Step 3
