Appetizers on the Bone

Description

The appetizer is quick and easy to prepare. We'll be making kiwi-marinated chicken wings and drumsticks with tomato-orange sauce. Does it sound complicated? But it's very simple to make and quite quick. I recommend marinating the chicken overnight, or if you're preparing for New Year's, marinate it in the morning and cook it in the evening. But if you're short on time, you can keep it in the marinade for 1 hour. And then everything is very simple—you send the chicken pieces to the oven while you prepare the sauce. Everything comes together quickly. The flavor of the finished dish will simply amaze you with its complexity and originality. The tenderest chicken with a light tangy note in an enveloping sweet-and-sour sauce—it's insanely delicious! I highly recommend trying it. The appetizer is ready. Serve immediately.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    Prepare all the necessary ingredients.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Rinse the chicken drumsticks and pat dry with paper towels. Peel the kiwi and dice finely; add the kiwi and chicken to a deep bowl. Add chicken spices, a little salt, and olive oil. Mix well, pressing on the kiwi as you go so more juice is released.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour, or better yet overnight, so the chicken marinates well.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

When the chicken has marinated well, add flour to the bowl and mix thoroughly so that every piece is coated with flour on all sides.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Place the chicken pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in the oven for 30–40 minutes (180°C).

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. Melt the butter in a skillet. Peel the orange and cut it into small pieces. Add the orange to the skillet and warm it over medium heat until it starts to release juice. Then add the ketchup, pour in 120–150 ml of water, and stir. Cook over low heat for 5–7 minutes.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Pour the sauce into the blender cup and blend until smooth. Then return the contents of the cup to the pan.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Transfer the baked chicken drumsticks and wings to a skillet, stir, and cook over the heat a little longer.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Place the wings on a rack and parchment paper so the excess sauce can drip off, and the sauce on the chicken pieces thickens.
