Appetizer
Description
The "Crabikies" appetizer is perfect for breakfast, a light snack, or as food to take along. Recipe. Can be served warm or chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all necessary ingredients. Take the dough out of the refrigerator in advance; boil the quail eggs.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the dough into triangles, as for crescent rolls.
- 3
Step 3

Slightly stretch each triangle lengthwise. Place a thin slice of cheese on each one. Top with a sausage. Make small cuts along the edges of the sausage.
- 4
Step 4

Wrap the dough into a crescent shape. Note: the ends of the sausage should protrude from the dough by 1–1.5 cm.
- 5
Step 5

Place the crescent rolls on a baking sheet and brush with beaten egg. Cut one sausage into 4 equal pieces. Make vertical cuts in the pieces, about halfway through. Place these pieces on the baking sheet as well and bake together with the crescent rolls.
- 6
Step 6

Bake for 20 minutes at 180 degrees. This is how our prep turned out — all that’s left is to assemble the little crabs.
- 7
Step 7

Attach claws and eyes made from quail eggs to the little crabs using toothpicks or matches.
- 8
Step 8

Use peppercorns or pieces of olives to make the pupils and little mouths. The little crabs are ready! Be sure to offer them to the kids — no one will appreciate your efforts more than they will!
