Appetizer for mead
Description
Homemade preserves keep for a long time. I’ll start, perhaps, with the fact that there are quite a few recipes for how to make a snack to go with mead. Lately, more and more different options are appearing: from cold to hot, which pair wonderfully with this drink. In this case, I’d like to offer the most traditional, if I may put it that way, option—the one that was used even in distant times. So, in my view, the most successful snack for mead at home is brined fruits and berries. Sauerkraut also works wonderfully. The ideal option is to serve an assortment of brined mushrooms, apples, and lingonberries or cranberries, for example. For enthusiasts, brined watermelon can also be an alternative—a fine snack as well. Brined apples can be made in the simplest brine, prepared as follows: 1. Prepare the necessary fruits, berries, and mushrooms. 2. Calculate the brine ingredients for 1 cup of water. Add 1 tbsp. sugar and 1 tbsp. salt, plus all kinds of favorite spices and seasonings. You can add honey. 3. The main thing is to watch the process and remove mold if necessary. You’ll need about 4 weeks to make such a snack at home. But then apples, mushrooms, cabbage, or watermelon will delight you with their flavor for a long time. Happy experimenting. Serve at the table or store in the pantry.
