
Tomato Appetizer
Description
Perfect for the table and with drinks. This appetizer takes very little time to prepare. The availability of ingredients, its striking appetizing appearance, and wonderful flavor have made this dish popular with many home cooks. Use any cheese you like; you can even use processed cheese. Adjust the amount of garlic to taste. If you prefer, replace the mayonnaise with sour cream or low-fat yogurt.

Step 1

Take a large tomato. It should be firm, not bruised, with thick walls. Wash it. With a sharp knife, make zigzag cuts around the tomato all the way to the center. Many people have made these "flowers" more than once. It's simple. You get two halves with scalloped edges.

Using a teaspoon or a knife, remove the flesh from the center of the tomato without damaging the walls.

Hard-boil the egg, cool it, and peel off the shell. Separate the white from the yolk. Grate the white on a fine grater and place it in a salad bowl.

Also grate the hard cheese on a fine grater and add it to the egg white.

Add minced garlic.

And one to two tablespoons of mayonnaise. Mix the egg white, cheese, garlic, and mayonnaise.
