Herring Roe Appetizer
Description
A delicious appetizer for any gathering. Herring roe can easily be bought at the store; it is sold in jars or by weight. If you buy loose roe, be sure to remove the membranes so that each grain is separate. This appetizer can be served in small tartlets for a festive table, or you can stuff boiled eggs with the mixture.

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for making a herring roe appetizer.

Grate the processed cheese on a fine grater and place it in a bowl.

Add herring roe to the cheese. I used sample roe from a jar.

Peel the onion and chop it very finely, add to a bowl, and mix.

Add the mayonnaise to a bowl, season with pepper, and mix thoroughly. Spread the appetizer on rye crispbreads and garnish with dill and a slice of fresh cucumber.
