Potato Purée Christmas Trees

40 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The mashed potatoes should be very thick, and the little trees, once piped from a pastry bag, should hold their shape well. If you plan to use toothpicks for the tops, be sure to warn your household about it.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients for making Christmas trees. Peel and wash the potatoes and carrots.

    Step 2

    Step 2

Cut the potatoes into pieces, transfer to a saucepan, cover with water, add a little salt, and cook until done. After about 15 minutes, check doneness with a knife or fork.

Meanwhile, slice the carrots into rounds and cut stars or flowers out of them — these will be the toppers. To help the toppers stay in place on the little trees, you can attach them using half a bamboo toothpick.

    Step 4

Drain the water from the cooked potatoes and pour in whole milk.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Mash the potatoes until smooth. To give it the color of Christmas trees, I added a couple of drops of green gel food coloring; you can also add spinach juice.

    Step 6

Transfer the puree into a piping bag fitted with a star tip, pipe individual tree-shaped portions onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 180°C for 10–15 minutes on the top/bottom setting.

Transfer the finished tree shapes to a flat plate, insert carrot tops on top, and serve.
