Boiled Tongue
Description
The appetizer comes together quickly and easily. To make the tongue skin peel off more easily, after boiling the meat it is recommended to pour ice-cold water over it. But for me, for example, I don't need to do this—the skin comes off well on its own if the meat is cooked through properly. If desired, you can add garlic, an onion, or a carrot to the pot while cooking so the meat picks up extra flavor notes. The appetizer is ready. Serve immediately.
Instructions

Step 1

Wash the tongues thoroughly; you can even use a brush. Cover the tongues with water, add a bay leaf and pepper. If you like, you can add a couple of heads of garlic to the water.

Step 2

Simmer the tongue for several hours. Rule of thumb: about one hour of cooking per 500 g of meat. The skin should turn white.
- 3
Step 3

Remove the tongues from the pot and let them cool slightly. Now make incisions and remove the skin.

Step 4

The finished tongue can be served as an appetizer, sliced into thin pieces, or added to salads and other dishes.
