Caramel Apples
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Candied apples can even be given as a gift for Christmas or New Year, packaged in a transparent gift bag. The main thing is to cook the caramel thick enough and let the fruits cool down in it, so they don't stick together. Do not add cream or sour cream—the caramel should be made of sugar only. Serve chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. You can use fresh lemon or concentrated lemon juice.
- 2
Step 2

Pour granulated sugar into a narrow container with high sides. Squeeze juice from a lemon or add some concentrated lemon juice.
- 3
Step 3

Pour in the water, but no more than the specified amount, otherwise the caramel will be too runny and won't stick to the fruits. Place the container on the stove over medium heat.
- 4
Step 4

Wash the apples in water and place them on paper towels. Dry them thoroughly; otherwise, the caramel will not stick to them.
- 5
Step 5

Remove the stems and thread the apples onto medium-sized wooden skewers.
- 6
Step 6

By this time, the caramel will be covered with large brown bubbles—that's exactly what you need.
- 7
Step 7

Remove the container from the stove and dip each apple into it, allowing the caramel to completely coat the apple. Tilt the container slightly so the caramel reaches the spot where the apple meets the stick.
- 8
Step 8

Do this with each apple, placing them on a plate until the caramel is used up. Work quickly, as the candy hardens very fast. Let the apples cool for about 15–20 minutes.
- 9
Step 9

After that, serve it at the table as a dessert.
