Apple strudel made with ready-made puff pastry
Description
Homemade pastries for tea. Strudel is a very popular dish in Austrian, German, and French cuisines and has long become a favorite in our region as well. It's easy to prepare, and apples are usually used as the filling. For making apple strudel using ready-made puff pastry, I recommend using yeast-free ready dough. Add raisins to taste—they're, as they say, a matter of personal preference. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Thaw the ready-made dough in advance if it is frozen. Prepare the remaining ingredients so they are at hand. Soak the raisins in boiling water so they become soft. Peel the apples and remove the core. Cut into cubes.
- 2
Step 2

Heat half a stick of butter in a frying pan.
- 3
Step 3

Fry the apples in oil until golden brown.
- 4
Step 4

Add rum and sugar, cook for another minute or two.
- 5
Step 5

Remove from heat and transfer the apples to a bowl. Add raisins, cinnamon, and ground nuts.
- 6
Step 6

While the filling cools, roll out the dough. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs, leaving a one-centimeter border around the edges. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- 7
Step 7

Place the filling on top.
- 8
Step 8

Roll the dough with the filling away from you to form a roll. Carefully and tightly seal the edges of the dough.

Step 9

Place the strudel on a baking sheet (with the sealed side down). Melt the remaining butter and brush it over the strudel. Put it in the oven for 25–30 minutes. Let it bake until golden brown. You can also brush it with butter during baking.

You can serve the ready-made apple strudel made from ready-made puff pastry with ice cream or jam.
