
Apple lattice pie
Description
Apple pies are a classic of confectionery art. There are a huge number of recipes and cooking methods. One of them is an open shortcrust pastry pie. To be precise, it is not entirely open, but covered with a kind of lattice made of thin strips of dough. This is both beautiful and helps prevent the apple filling from drying out too quickly during baking. I suggest making it for a sweet table, since the preparation process is not complicated, and there are plenty of apples at this time of year. Choose the variety according to your taste. And the dough is incredibly easy to make. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

Prepare the ingredients for making an apple pie.

Cut the butter into small pieces and place them in a bowl.

Add the sifted flour.

Add sugar, a pinch of salt, and baking powder.

Mash all of these ingredients with your hands or a fork until fine crumbs form.

Add sour cream to the bowl.

Knead a smooth, elastic dough that does not stick to your hands. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Take the dough out of the refrigerator. Divide it into two unequal parts. Roll out the larger part into a circle slightly larger in diameter than the baking dish. Place it in the dish, forming a small rim. Prick it in several places with a fork. The diameter of my dish is 20 cm.

Wash the apples, peel them, remove the core, finely dice them, and place them in a frying pan.

In a dry skillet, stew the apples, stirring over low heat until softened. If the apples are sour, you can add sugar. Once done, let cool.

Arrange the cooled apples in the pan on the dough.

Roll out the smaller portion of the dough and cut it into strips. Choose the width at your discretion. Mine are 1 cm. Arrange the strips in a lattice over the apples.

Place the pie in an oven preheated to 175–180 degrees for 30–35 minutes and bake until done.

Let the apple pie cool slightly, then dust it with powdered sugar. Slice it and serve this delicious, fragrant pastry.
