Oatmeal Apple Crumble

Description

The dessert is simple and quick to prepare. The combination of oats and apples is a winning one. Both oatmeal with apples and apple casseroles with oats are delicious. But the traditional English apple crumble with oat flakes has truly won me over! For making apple crumble with oats, I use tender oat flakes—not too fine, of course, otherwise you won't get a tasty, golden crust. However, coarse, large flakes aren't suitable either.

    Peel the apples and cut them into small slices or cubes. Add cinnamon and about 40 grams of sugar (if the apples are sour, you can add 50 grams; it all depends on your taste preferences). Mix well.

    Mix the flour with the remaining sugar, oats, and salt.

    Melt the butter and add it to the dry mixture. You can mix everything by hand to form crumbs.

    Evenly sprinkle the resulting crumbs over the apples, pressing down lightly. Place the crumble in a preheated oven at 200°C for 40–50 minutes.

    As a result, the apples turn out juicy and tender, under a crispy crust made of flour and oats.

    You can serve the finished apple crumble with oats as a dessert with ice cream, or simply with coffee or tea.
