Description

I don't know about anyone else, but for me this drink has always been associated with pirates, and only later did I learn it was originally made for English sailors. Although in the original version, rum was simply mixed with water and lemon juice, over time many other variations have appeared. In this recipe, I'll show you how to make apple grog. Honestly, there's no better drink for a rainy autumn—when it gets quite chilly outside and your balcony is piled high with freshly harvested apples. So why not combine them with rum and make apple grog at home? And if you make enough grog, you might as well throw a party—this way you'll warm up and lift your spirits too. 1) First, peel the apples and remove the cores. Place them on a baking tray. In a separate bowl, mix honey with one glass of water, pour this mixture over the apples, and sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Put the tray into a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) and bake the apples until soft. 2) Transfer the cooked apples to a blender and puree until smooth. 3) Pour the remaining 3 glasses of water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then pour the hot water over the apple puree, add dark rum and honey, and stir until well combined. Pour the grog into glasses and sprinkle with nutmeg. This is a very simple yet incredibly delicious drink—give it a try! Serve chilled.
