Apple caramel
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Of course, no one will be surprised when I say that working with caramel requires constant attention, as it tends to burn easily and stick firmly to the pot, or thicken so much that no apple could possibly sink into it. Therefore, I strongly recommend being patient, cooking over low heat, and not stepping too far away from this delicious dessert. Serve it chilled.

Step 1

1. In a saucepan with a thick bottom, mix one cup of water and three cups of sugar. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil.

Step 2

2. Reduce the heat and wait until the sugar dissolves and the mixture turns into boiling caramel. Now add the cider, another cup of water, anise, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla. Wash the apples and peel them. Add the pieces of peel to the caramel as well.

Step 3

3. These pieces can even be mashed to make the caramel flavor more apple-like. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and add the whole peeled apples. Cook for approximately 20 minutes.

Step 4

4. As soon as the caramel reaches your desired consistency, remove the apple and pour the apple caramel over it. Done!
