Airy cheesy waffles
Description
A waffle maker for Viennese waffles is an excellent kitchen appliance that helps prepare a variety of baked goods with different flavors—both sweet and savory. You can bake not only shortcrust dough, but even simpler pancake batter. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

With a fork, mix the buttermilk with the egg and salt.
- 2
Step 2

Add the flour sifted with baking soda; it's better to use first-grade flour. Add a little corn flour for a more crumbly dough. Pour in the oil and mix with a fork until the dough is slightly thicker than pancake batter. Add lemon juice and mix again.
- 3
Step 3

Grate the Adyghe cheese on a coarse grater and mix it into the dough. Let the dough rest for about 15 minutes.
- 4
Step 4

Add chopped green onions, mix well.
- 5
Step 5

Bake the waffles in a well-heated waffle maker. Cook until golden brown, do not overbake, otherwise the cheese may become bitter.
- 6
Step 6

Place hot waffles on a rack so they stay crispy.

Step 7

Of course, waffles are best served hot and fresh! Especially with cold milk! Although... they go quite well with beer too.
