Description

I want to show you one of the most accessible and simple recipes—try and enjoy delicious homemade lokum! Main ingredients: water, sugar, and starch. Fruit juices or food colorings are also added. See more details in the recipe.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare the ingredients, using 250 ml glasses. Let's get started!

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Take a deep, convenient pot. Add one cup of starch and 1.5 cups of sugar. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

    Add water and fruit juice.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Mix the mixture well with a whisk. While constantly and thoroughly stirring, bring the mixture to a boil. The mixture will gradually thicken during heating, so it is important to keep stirring all the time to prevent burning.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

When the mixture reaches a consistency similar to a fairly thick fruit jelly, add 3 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Cook the future rahat-lokum over the lowest heat. I can't give you the exact time, but it takes me about 15-20 minutes. The mixture will become transparent, stretchy, and start pulling away from the sides of the pot. That means it's ready.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Rinse the mold for Turkish delight with water, then quickly spread the fruit mixture with a spoon. The mixture sets and hardens very quickly. Leave it on the counter until completely cooled (about an hour is sufficient). Then let the dessert stabilize at room temperature for a couple more hours.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

The dessert is ready! Mix one spoon of powdered sugar with three spoons of starch. Dust the cutting board with the sugar-starch mixture. Carefully transfer the Turkish delight onto the board; the dessert should easily come away from the sides of the glass mold.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

It remains to cut the loukoum into pieces. Cut with a sharp knife, rolling each cube in powdered starch.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

The deboned pieces are completely ready to eat. Soft and tasty, tenderly springy.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

This is the amount of loukoum I ended up with. Give it a try!

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

    Can be served.
