Delicious cookies with kefir
Description
Delicious baked treats for the whole family. For the cookies, you'll need thick homemade kefir, room-temperature butter, flour, and sugar. Mix the ingredients as indicated in the recipe, and for variety, add nuts, candied fruits, or raisins. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for the cookies. Instead of walnuts, you can use any other raw nuts. It's better to use natural kefir (or sour milk).
- 2
Step 2

Place the butter in a double boiler and let it melt.
- 3
Step 3

Remove the nuts from their shells. Chop them finely using a sharp knife or a mortar.
- 4
Step 4

Mix room-temperature kefir with sugar. If the kefir is cold, the oil you add may curdle.
- 5
Step 5

Pour in the warm oil, add the flour mixed with baking soda. Start kneading the dough with a spoon, then move to the table.
- 6
Step 6

The dough is ready. It should not be too stiff or too sticky.
- 7
Step 7

Generously flour the work surface and roll out the dough on it to a thickness of up to 1 cm.
- 8
Step 8

Sprinkle the dough with nuts and sugar. Use a rolling pin to press the nuts into the dough so they are firmly embedded. Make sure the thickness of the cookies remains unchanged (0.7–1 cm).
- 9
Step 9

Use a cookie cutter to press out the dough. It easily releases from the surface and doesn't stick to the cutter.
- 10
Step 10

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the cookies a small distance apart from each other. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes.
- 11
Step 11

The cookies are ready, remove them from the baking sheet. Put in the next batch. I ended up with 4 baking sheets.
- 12
Step 12

Remove from the oven and serve warm or cooled.
