Description

Homemade preserves keep for a long time. This recipe for preparing cherries with sugar for winter is not only very quick and simple, but also quite diet-friendly, because unlike many other methods, sugar is used to a minimum here—only enough for the cherries to release their juice and to be stored in it. So be sure to try it! How to prepare cherries with sugar for winter: 1. First, sterilize the jars in which you will store the finished cherries. 2. At the same time, sort through the berries, remove small twigs and leaves, and wash the cherries well. 3. Pack the berries into the still-hot sterilized jars so they fill half the jar. 4. Now sprinkle them on top with 1–2 tbsp. of sugar. 5. Add more cherries to fill the jar to the top. 6. Then sprinkle with sugar again, also 1–2 tablespoons. 7. Cover all the jars with lids and place them in a pot of water. On the stovetop, sterilize in boiling water for 15 minutes. Done! If you did everything correctly, by this point the cherries should already be completely covered in syrup. If your berries turned out not juicy enough, simply add a little boiled water directly into the jar so all the cherries are covered with liquid. Seal the jars and keep them wrapped in a blanket until completely cool, then move them to the refrigerator or any dark, cool place. Now you know too. Store in a cool, dark place.
